Monique Roy Whitcomb
Director & Lead Teacher
Monique Roy Whitcomb is passionately dedicated to creating a nurturing and stimulating environment where children feel safe, valued, and inspired to learn and grow. With over 27 years of experience in Montessori education and her AMS certification, she is committed to fostering independence, confidence, and each child’s individual interests while instilling a lifelong love of learning. Monique truly loves working with children and treasures the opportunity to watch them discover their world, develop their unique personalities, and grow into capable, confident individuals. She also values strong, respectful relationships with families, creating a meaningful partnership in support of each child.
Alexa Schweikert
Toddler/Assistant Teacher
Alexa Schweikert is dedicated to supporting each child’s individual development in a calm, nurturing environment through hands-on experiences, exploration, and caring guidance. After earning her BA from UMO, Alexa began her career at Children’s House Montessori in Bangor and later worked as an Early Childhood Specialist, supporting young children and families throughout Hancock County. She and her husband raised their two children in Swanville, where she served on the Belfast School Board for 14 years. She also cared for her grand-niece and grand-nephew throughout their childhood. Alexa brings a wealth of experience, compassion, and a genuine love of children to My Friends Montessori.
Taylor Lemon
Assistant Teacher
Taylor has a natural ability to connect with children and is intuitive to their individual needs. She supports each child with patience, respect, and kindness while encouraging independence and confidence. Taylor joined My Friends Montessori with two years of childcare experience and recently completed the MMA Montessori Assistant training course. Her gentle, thoughtful approach makes her a wonderful addition to our Montessori community.
